Day 13 - Favorite board game
This is Seafarers of Catan. It is my most favorite game ever. It is an expansion to Settlers of Catan which allows ones little settlement to go out into the ocean to explore new islands.
We are a family of boardgame geeks. While growing up, my family played boardgames together. My husbands family was similar. It has created monsters. We are total boardgame snobs. And card games... and dice games... we have more Euro games than anything else. If the game is not original, unique, and abstract, we have no interest in it. We are insufferable. We acknowledge this.
So... picking my favorite board game of all time? It was hard. Very hard. I had to think about this. I thought about it for days. Settlers won out. I was playing this game when I went into labor with my daughter who is about to turn seven. It never gets old.
Close runner-ups: Pandemic, Agricola, Kill Dr. Lucky (the original Cheapass version, not the pretty packaged version), Ticket to Ride, Clue (ok, so I like some classics), Scotland Yard, and Puerto Rico. If I get to include games which do not actually have boards, I would add Carcassonne: The Castle, Chrononauts, Roll Through the Ages, Scattergories, Apple to Apples, and Consulting Detectives to this list...
